Kartarpur Corridor New Latest Updates 2019: On 9 NOV 2019 All Sikhs People came to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib for Giving Respect to their Father Gurdwara Baba Darbar Sahib. This is the first time possible after 72 years in the government of Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf “Prime Minister Imran Khan”.
KARTARPUR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor, a border corridor between Pakistan and India, connecting the Sikh shrines of Dera Baba Nanak Sahib and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.
This is the first chance after 72 years a large number of Indian Sikhs on Saturday made the historic pilgrimage, traveling visa-free, to one of their religion’s holiest sites under a landmark deal between the two countries.
In his speech at the inaugural ceremony, the prime minister welcomed the Sikh pilgrims and lauded the FWO, laborers and all the people who worked on the project.
“I had no idea that my government is so efficient,” said the prime minister jokingly while commenting on the early completion of the Corridor Project.
Imran Khan said he had realized the significance of Kartarpur only a year ago.”A leader always unites people, he will never divide them,” he said, adding that South Africans would never forget Nelson Mandela since he united his people.”Nobody thought there would ever be justice in South Africa,” he said.
The Pakistani leaders used the occasion to raise the issue of Occupied Kashmir where Indian forces have carried out a clampdown since August 5.
“We can resolve the issue of Kashmir through dialogue,” he said. The prime minister expressed the hope that South Asian countries would also prosper by following in the footsteps of France and Germany.
FO expresses ‘deep concern’ over the Babri Mosque verdict. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed ‘deep concern’ over the Babri Masjid verdict, on Saturday.
A press release from the MoFA stated that the decision had exposed how minorities in India were not safe.”As the United Nations recently noted the Indian Supreme Court’s response to human rights petitions in the context of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir was slow, this decision points out that when it acts, it is unable to protect the interests of India’s minorities,” read the press release.
The MoFA further noted that the rising tide of extremist Hindu ideology was a threat to regional peace and stability.
“I am happy we could do this for you,” he told the hundreds of Sikh pilgrims. “Believe me, I had no idea of the importance this place holds; I found out a year ago.
He said the inability of Sikhs in the past to visit the Kartarpur shrine was akin to Muslims being able to see Madina from a distance but not be able to go near it.
“That is why I am happy to see you so happy and the way your hearts have nothing but prayers for us.”
Citing the examples of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Nelson Mandela and Sufi saints, the prime minister said a true leader is one who always brings people together and does not spread hate in order to gain votes.
He continued: “The first thing I did after becoming the prime minister was to tell [Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi that poverty is our mutual problem, and the way to deal with it is to open our borders to people and trade.
“I met Manmohan Singh during a conference and I remember when he was the PM he had said that ‘entire South Asia can rise if we solve Kashmir’. And that’s what I told Modi.
“But I am sad to say that Kashmir has gone beyond a territorial issue. This is an issue of humanity, not a territorial dispute.
“The way they [Kashmiris] are being kept like animals. Their rights have been snatched away which the UNSC gave them.
“If Modi is listening, [he should know that] justice brings peace and injustice spreads confusion.
“Let’s rid ourselves of this problem,” he told Modi, referring to the Kashmir dispute. “So we can live like humans.
“Imagine the happiness that will spread and how we will be able to pull people out of poverty.
“I have hope that this is the beginning. One day our relations with India will be such that would have been had the issue of Kashmir been resolved in the beginning (at Partition).
“I also foresee a day when the hatred that has spread in the sub-continent over the past 70 years due to this dispute [will be no more].
“When this problem is solved and Kashmiris get their rights, the sub-continent will see prosperity and our entire region will rise in the world, and I pray that day is not far,” he concluded.

WHY KARTARPUR CORRIDOR IS IMPORTANT FOR SIKH AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, situated in Kartarpur, is the second holiest place for the Sikh community. This is 120 km away from Lahore and situated in a small village of Kotheypind at the bank of River Ravi — at a distance of only 4 km from the Pakistan-India border.
This village is included in Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal district and the beautiful white Gurdwara looks elegantly placed between the grasslands.
It has been said in the agreement reached between Pakistan and India that daily five thousand Sikh yatris (pilgrims) will be allowed to visit the Gurdwara through the Corridor.
To facilitate the Sikh yatris, the government has installed 130 counters, where their passports will be confirmed or scanned, and the permit will be verified.
